New Jewelry Collection: The Bohemian Vines

March 07, 2021

The Bohemian Vines Jewelry Collection is here and it brings new hope and renewal as we make our way through 2023. I designed this collection as a way to welcome Spring and as a reminder that beauty can grow in unexpected places.
Like all of my fine jewelry collections, the Bohemian Vines Collection comes from my heart. I infused this collection with all of the strength, energy and beauty we need during these trying times.
In this post, I'm sharing my inspiration for the collection, the gemstones and the materials with you.

To start off with let's start with the design inspiration.
One of the hallmarks of my designs are my swirls. I turn sterling silver into waves and twirls that become wearable sculptures.
But my pieces are more than what they appear. Each piece of jewelry is made to go through your life with you and to grow with you, the quality of my jewelry makes it a future heirloom.

Bohemian Vines Necklaces

Bohemian Vines grew from the place in my heart with deep roots to the earth, combined with the dreamy swirling ether of the sky. Flowering vines couldn't exist without the soil below them or the sun and rain above.

Vines represent strength, determination, endurance, and progress over time. They are fascinating because they are both delicate, yet tenacious and strong. I knew they would be the perfect inspiration for my new collection because they represent the Metalicious woman: powerful, determined and beautiful.

I very intentionally made this collection based on three flowering vines: Lilac, Wisteria and Nightshade. Each one has its own personality and story, and its own values to carry with you each time you wear them. They are also each complemented by their own gemstones: amethysts, blue topaz, and garnets. Amethysts are for protection, calmness and clarity. Blue topaz is for wisdom, communication, and concentration. And garnets are for strength, love, and passion.
My work also takes inspiration from the work of other artists. In dreaming up this collection, I found this beautiful sonnet by Pablo Neruda:

Morning (Love Sonnet XXVII)

by Pablo Neruda

Naked you are simple as one of your hands;
Smooth, earthy, small, transparent, round.
You've moon-lines, apple pathways
Naked you are slender as a naked grain of wheat.

Naked you are blue as a night in Cuba;
You've vines and stars in your hair.
Naked you are spacious and yellow
As summer in a golden church.

Naked you are tiny as one of your nails;
Curved, subtle, rosy, till the day is born
And you withdraw to the underground world.

As if down a long tunnel of clothing and of chores;
Your clear light dims, gets dressed, drops its leaves,
And becomes a naked hand again.
